Case Study 1 - Perodua

Perodua, Malaysia’s largest automotive manufacturer, required a reliable and cost-effective solution to transport Semi Knocked Down (SKD) vehicles. Their logistics team needed a system that maximised container space, ensured component safety, and integrated smoothly into their existing assembly workflows.

Trans-Rak International partnered closely with Perodua to deliver a customised version of our SKD-RAK system. After analysing their specific vehicle architecture and shipping requirements, we engineered several bespoke modifications to optimise load configuration, improve handling efficiency, and streamline both packing and unpacking processes.

To ensure seamless implementation, Trans-Rak engineers supported Perodua on the ground during loading and unloading trials, providing hands-on technical guidance and validating that the tailored system performed exactly as designed.

The result was a fully optimised racking solution that increased container utilisation, reduced transit-related risk, and supported Perodua’s production targets through consistent, repeatable loading operations. Our collaborative engineering approach ensured the system aligned perfectly with Perodua’s SKD strategy, helping them achieve smoother cross-border logistics and improved overall efficiency.

Case Study 2 - Tesla

Tesla sought a transport solution that could deliver finished vehicles from factory to sales point with maximum safety, minimal handling, and full control over end-to-end logistics. Traditional shipping methods presented limitations in flexibility, security, and port access, prompting Tesla to consider containerised vehicle movements.

Trans-Rak International supported Tesla in adopting the R-RAK system, an approach that allowed cars to be loaded directly from the assembly line into containers. This method aligned perfectly with Tesla’s priority for enhanced safety and security, as each vehicle is securely fixed within the container, protected from external elements and unnecessary touchpoints.

Containerisation also offered Tesla clear door-to-door cost advantages, faster delivery times, and access to a wider range of global port destinations, providing greater agility in reaching emerging markets. The ability to ship at high frequency further supported Tesla’s dynamic production and sales cycles.

Using the R-RAK, Tesla achieved a seamless factory-to-customer logistics flow: load at the manufacturing site, unload at the sales location, with reduced risk, greater efficiency, and improved consistency throughout the distribution chain.
